Had a very comfortable & enjoyable 3 night stay here. Located very conveniently across Vienna main train station. Hotel is dressed up traditionally & some of the deco/ornaments are quite interesting. The premises is well maintained & the staff are approachable, friendly & helpful. Room is not large but comfortable. They also served a morning buffet breakfast, not a fantastic spread but good enough for a hearty breakfast at a reasonable 16 euros. But the lifts show its age, creaked & rattled as it moved along. Probably better to get it upgraded before someone get trapped inside & ruin his/her holiday.
A Well-Located, Comfortable Stay with Classic Vienna Charm — But a Few Things to Know I stayed at Select Hotel Prinz Eugen Wien – for over a month, so I can confidently say a lot about this property—its strengths, its quirks, and what future guests should expect. First, the location is unbeatable—just a short walk from Wien Hauptbahnhof (main railway station), a tram stop, drug store, post office, and plenty of cafés and eateries nearby. Whether you’re commuting, sightseeing, or just grabbing a bite, everything is within easy reach. The hotel itself has a graceful, old-world Viennese charm. My room was spacious, and the bathroom was larger than average, which was a big plus for a long stay. The rooms are soundproof, which ensured peaceful sleep despite the central location. Pro tip: Request a top-floor room facing the road—you’ll get a balcony, lovely views, and still enjoy complete quiet thanks to the soundproof windows. The staff were consistently friendly, professional, and helpful. The breakfast was satisfying, with a reliable spread of fresh items including baked goods, fruit, eggs, and quality coffee. However, a few areas could be improved: • The main entrance door is not automatic and not very wide, which was inconvenient—especially when carrying luggage or groceries. • The elevators are quite small and visibly old, fitting only 2-3 people comfortably. For a hotel that often hosts international travelers, this felt a bit dated. That said, the hotel was always clean, the housekeeping was prompt, and it truly felt like a second home over the weeks. If you’re looking for a well-connected, safe, and reliable place to stay in Vienna—with a few manageable limitations—this is a solid choice. Would I stay here again? Yes. Without hesitation.
This is by no means a 4-star hotel. Lacking in amenities. My TV was not working. Staff on the later shift were not helpful and can come off as rude. I had called the reception for help and I was told brusquely that the technician had gone home and to call again the next morning. Was it so difficult to send anyone up to troubleshoot? That said, the location was great. Just a 5 mins walk to the HBF. Room was super dim. Mine had a balcony. It's a non-smoking room and I think some guests in neighbouring rooms smoked at the balcony. I could smell the smoke when I opened my balcony door. No coffee machine. The hotel is by the road but the balcony doors were super sound-proof. Overall a decent stay if you are not fussy. Room door had to be opened with a physical key. The door was difficult to unlock. Knob had to be angled at a certain angle for the key to turn properly. I could not open the door on many occasions, like when I was holding onto hot coffee. I had to put my coffee on the floor just to open the door. The door locks automatically once you close it, but because it unlocks with a key from the outside, I was a little insecure that my door wasn't properly locked since the door can be pushed open from the inside without having to turn any locks.
