A Hidden Gem with Weizen Wisdom Five Stars of Cozy Chaos Nestled in the majestic folds of Zell am See, Garten Hotel Daxer isn't just a hotel it's a delightful Austrian plot twist we didn’t see coming. From the moment we stumbled in, slightly windblown and overly optimistic about our ability to pack light, we were greeted with a warmth so genuine it made me briefly suspicious. The staff were alarmingly friendly, like, “Are you sure you don’t know me from somewhere?” friendly. Either they’re exceptionally kind or I’ve forgotten a past life in Austria. The rooms are spacious enough to host an impromptu game of tag. My child roamed freely like a tiny, sugar-powered baron, claiming corners as her domain and converting the floor into a stuffed animal empire. Other guests in the restaurant found her antics equal parts charming and confusing which, if you ask me, is the sweet spot of any baby's public appearance. The food and service? Think: Grandma’s hospitality meets the efficiency of a Swiss watch. And if you opt for the all-inclusive deal (which you should), do yourself the favor of going rogue for just one thing. The Stiegl Weizen! It’s not included, but it’s a criminally refreshing brew that tastes like someone bottled a mountaintop sunset. Best enjoyed with your feet up, eyes on the Großglockner, and existential worries temporarily postponed. To sum it up: If you’re looking for somewhere peaceful, picturesque, and just chaotic enough to keep life interesting and you enjoy the sensation of being looked after without being smothered Garten Hotel Daxer might just be your new happy place! Also, again ... Stiegl Weizen. Seriously. Don’t question it. Just drink it!

A wonderful, friendly family hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It's quite far from the village but we made good use of the free Sommerpass to use the bus during the day and used taxis in the evening when the bus was less frequent. Just loved the pure mountain air and all the alpine flowers. Very handy for the high mountain chairlift. What made our holiday really special, was how well I was looked after by the lovely family and staff who took great care to ensure my meals and snacks were gluten, dairy and soya free. No cross contamination. Absolutely wonderful. Highly recommend.

We had a great week staying the Daxer. Amazing service, food and location. The swimming pool was fantastic as was the saunas. All the staff were helpful and freindly. We would happily stay again.
