I am surprised by some of the less than positive reviews in this hotel . I had my first stay recently at this hotel and found it excellent and good value . One of the cleanest and well presented hotels i have stayed at . Admittedly my room was not massive but it an old building with a great charm. The staff are lovely and welcoming. Breakfast a delight . This is a great location and i wouldnt hesitate to stay here again
If you'd like a quaint and, mostly, quiet location with 3 restaurant options on the same corner and short walking distance to shops and attractions.... this is an ideal hotel. Staff was pleasant and the hotel is clean. The continental breakfast was decent and the upgrade English breakfast was reasonable. The fish 'n' chips and club sandwich were delicious. Selfridges (dept store) is a 15 min walk. It is close to the action but the street isn't busy. Cons: there was no a/c. An oscillating fan was available and the window was opened (no screen; I got some insect bites but can't say for certain if it happened in the room or otherwise). On a very hot day, the 3rd floor room I occupied was hotter than I liked. But it cooled off the next few days so it was tolerable. The room is small and had a full size, uncomfortable (but tolerable) mattress. I was in a superior room. Bath/shower was small.
Location is super great. Close to train station, heaps of pubs and restaurants. Outside of the hotel looks lovely and cute. However, a little upsetting. When arriving to our room there was human boogers that someone had smeared on the wall.. let reception know and they had cleaned it right away. The rooms look bigger on website than in person. There is no Aircon, it was hot last week in london and we really struggled with the little peddle stool fan. We were on level 1 and told there was no lift to our rooms.. so we had to lug out suitcases up the stairs, however staff member helped. When checking out we had to drag suitcase down the stairs at 7am, we then had staff come out and ask us why we didn't use the lift ? Myself and a friend was very confused and said we were told there was no lift to level one.. she said there is. This was very annoying and confusing as my friend has back problems.. Would've been great to know for the 3 days of our stay.. This accommodation is far from 4 Star Hotel.
