Gen Hakone Gora

If there were an option to review for more than 5 stars, Gen Hakone deserves it for the awe-inspiring experience they provide. The entire facility is extremely clean and the amenities fulfilled our every wish. The kaiseki ryori was a guided journey into a delectable cuisine that was the pinnacle of our time in Japan. I can certainly echo all of the reviews that remark on the genuine hospitality and service throughout the entire stay. Even before stepping into the building, we were met with an extremely warm and professional greeting. The moment we were introduced to the room (we booked the Ryo) we could feel our jaws drop in awe as we took in the view, both the room itself as well as the mountains that embraced the balcony's horizon. It's clear that the guest experience is thoroughly thought through and prioritized, from the privacy blinds on the balcony, to the motion-activated nightlight on the bedside floor, to the sunrise-draped viewing angle facing the mountain, to the various typical post-onsen snacks and drinks available in the room. Our only wish is that we had given ourselves more time to stay at Gen Hakone and fully soak in everything that they had to offer -- we've already decided we'll make sure to book a longer stay in the future!

I traveled with my family and had a truly enjoyable stay at this hotel. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the warm and welcoming attitude of the staff—they were friendly, helpful, and made us feel right at home. One of the small but thoughtful touches we really appreciated was the presence of fresh flowers throughout the hotel, which added a pleasant and refreshing atmosphere. Another highlight was the self-service coffee station offering both blend and drip coffee. It was a wonderful way to start the day, and it really stood out compared to other places we’ve stayed. The room itself was spacious, clean, and offered a beautiful view, which made our stay even more relaxing and memorable. The facilities overall were very good and well-maintained, contributing to a smooth and comfortable experience for our entire family. If we have the opportunity to return, we would definitely choose this hotel again. Highly recommended for anyone traveling with family and looking for a cozy, well-managed place to stay.

I’m so confused by anyone who gives this place less than 5 stars. It’s one of the best hotels you can stay in anywhere in the world. The staff is so thoughtful and takes such good care of you. Hakone is difficult to maneuver, everything is pretty remote and it isn’t easy finding things open late or even a variety. This hotel makes you forget all that and enjoy the serene vibes. We loved our stay and can’t wait to come back. The staff took such good care of us from welcome drinks and snacks to catering to our diet and even picking us up/dropping us to the sight seeing places nearby. can’t wait to come back
