What a lovely place! Called here just for a light lunch and was very impressed with the welcoming, friendly, professional staff. The surroundings are luxurious and immaculately clean and tidy. A very historic building with interesting architecture and artworks. Seating is very comfortable. The food was obviously homemade, presented nicely and delicious. Servers, although young, were a credit to the management. So polite and knew exactly what level at which to interact. We will be back to have lunch again very soon. Prices are reasonable for the quality. Only (slight) criticism is there should be some light music playing in the background in the sitting rooms.

Second stay at this gorgeous hotel. Nothing to fault. Staff cannot do enough for you and all exceptional from the booking, reception, room servicing and both restaurants. Exceptional food and breakfast. A special shout out to Sophie who was just delightful. We will definitely be back

We had a pleasant stay here for my partners birthday celebrations last month. Pros Large and spacious room with comfortable bed and lovely front facing view. Breakfast in bed was great and perfectly cooked, delicious. The evening meal was also delicious with excellent service and lovely ambience/setting for a few drinks before and after the meal. Service from check in to check out was friendly, efficient and nothing was too much trouble. The location is good with beautiful countryside nearby, Guisborough and Saltburn seafront within easy reach. Parking was easy, convenient and near the main entrance. Cons It was one of the hottest days of the year. Whilst I understand a period property cannot have AC everywhere, it would have been nice to have something better than a 90s style fan that has seen better days. The plumbing in the bathroom wasn’t working correctly and the shower plug hole seemed to be blocked, filling with water when using - not particularly pleasant. Whilst the room was very nice, it was starting to look a little run down and in need of some TLC. The bed sheets were also not particularly neat as you would see with an established chain like the Hilton. Overall we had a great stay and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend if you’re in the area. 🌟
