Great spot for a mini break in Gloucester. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, though the bathrooms could use an update. There’s no air-conditioning, but they provide fans which helps. The food was decent. The highlight is definitely the pool area – perfect for a refreshing swim, and the sauna and steam rooms are lovely. If you want to swim laps, I recommend visiting during the adults-only session, as it tends to get quite busy and crowded.

A Wonderful Stay Let Down by the Final Hours Our experience at the hotel was excellent overall – a solid 5-star stay right up until the last few hours. From the moment we arrived, the service at reception was warm and professional, both during check-in and later at night when we needed assistance. The swimming pool was clean, spacious, and enjoyable. Dinner was outstanding, with a delicious menu and quick, attentive service. Breakfast also impressed us – there was a good variety of options, and the pastries were especially fresh and tasty. Unfortunately, our positive impression was marred by a disappointing experience on the morning of our departure. We requested two bottles of water from reception and were told they would be sent to our room. After waiting for over an hour, we followed up at the desk and were informed by Donna that water could not be sent as it wasn’t complimentary, and the staff member who had confirmed otherwise was in training. The issue wasn't the charge itself – had we been told there was a fee, we would have gladly paid, as water is a basic necessity. The real problem was the complete lack of communication. No one contacted us to clarify or update us on the change, and no apology was offered at any point. Donna continued to blame the trainee throughout the conversation, and even after I mentioned that no one had taken responsibility or offered an apology, she still did not acknowledge the inconvenience. It’s unfortunate that a simple matter, if handled with better communication and a touch of courtesy, overshadowed what had been an otherwise outstanding stay.

Unfortunately, our stay at this hotel was very disappointing. The only real positive was Alan, who was absolutely brilliant—warm, welcoming, and clearly committed to great customer service. He stood out in stark contrast to the rest of the staff, who were unhelpful and unwelcoming. At one point, we were trying to gain access to the leisure centre and the staff continued their personal conversation rather than assisting us. The property itself was in poor condition. There was a strong smell of stagnant water throughout, with dehumidifiers placed all over and wet carpets. At no point before booking were we made aware of these issues, which significantly impacted our comfort. The food was another letdown. The afternoon tea was very poorly prepared. The strawberries were mushy and clearly not washed properly and left me wondering if the strawberries had been dragged across the carpet. To top it all off, we were charged £10 for 24-hour parking—which feels unreasonable considering we were already paying to stay at the hotel. Overall, this experience didn’t live up to expectations, and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel until major improvements are made to service, cleanliness, and transparency.
