We had a fantastic stay there. The staff was extremely friendly And informative! They even work us up when the northern lights where visible, and thankfully they did because it was the only night we got to see them. Breakfast was a great spread, to include salmon!! Dinner was very nicely prepared and tasted amazing! We would definitely come back!

My husband and I did a 10-day self-drive trip around the Ring Road in Iceland. Hotel Glymur was our last accomodation before returning to the capital to fly home to the USA. I am happy we booked Hotel Glymur and would stay there again. We came into the warm common area to the smell of a delicious dinner and beautiful decor from around the world after a long day hiking craters in the rain. The bartender/receptionist was welcoming and informative (as well as funny) and our room was clean, well-decorated, and comfortable. Breakfast buffet was one of the very best during our trip. The smoked salmon and bacon were great, as were the many other options. The dining room has a beautiful view of the lake during breakfast, and at night it has quite the ambience with its candlelit suppers. I hope we visit again and will recommend Hotel Glymur to friends.

During the check in, no one bothered to speak with us for good 10 minutes. When asked the bar tender if someone can check us in, he said yes one moment and then simply forgot about us. There is no elevator to bring the luggage to the second floor. The wifi in the room was non existent. Devices barely saw the network, and there was no way to even send an email. The room was very worn down and in need of a remodel or upgrade. Water in the shower stinks! It gave off a strong sulphur smell, much stronger than in any other hotel on the entire island. There is coffee in the room but no teaspoons. I guess you’re supposed to mix sugar and creamer with your finger? The top of the room where the bed is gets hot and takes time to cool off after a day. There is a small window that opens but it is not enough to actually cool the room in the summer. Breakfast was very good though.
