We booked directly with the hotel for a fairly last-minute overnight stay. I made my booking with Kerry, who was absolutely lovely on the phone and equally friendly and helpful when we met her on reception. As there were no twin rooms available, I booked a family room, which provided two very comfortable double beds. We had a very pleasant stay. The location was very handy for the motorway - without being too close - and parking was very good. We didn’t have time to dine at the hotel, but found it very comfortable and good value for money.

Firstly the good. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room itself was clean. The food was also very good, at breakfast and in the restaurant. The bed was also pretty comfy, not too soft. Now the bad. The whole place is pretty shabby and tired. The carpet on the stairs is worn out. The laminate flooring outside my room was lifting and broken which almost sent me flying. None of the windows look as if they have ever been cleaned, and I was frightened to touch the glass in the internal doors upstairs because it was so visibly filthy. Swimming pool is pretty small and not very deep, don't go expecting to have a proper swim. The kettle in my room was also broken and the TV looked about 20 years old. Now for the completely unacceptable. My room was in the top floor and I was staying in July so I expected it to be warm, but I was not expecting to have the radiator blasting away on 5 as well! Fortunately I could open the windows, but that let in the noise of the road. No toilet brush was provided, which is just insane. The bathroom was not a proper bathroom with a locking door, just a glass partition with frosted vinyl stickers offering absolutely zero privacy. It was obviously designed by some pervert who enjoys watching people on the loo! The bathroom made of glass was bad, but the final straw was running the hot water for a bath and it coming out of the taps brown!!! They need to call a plumber immediately, as their pipes are either rusting or they have an excess of sediment in their hot water system, both of which constitute a health and safety risk. The whole area around the swimming pool was absolutely filthy, and most of the lockers were broken. The pool seemed pretty dirty too. Whole place needs dome serious care and attention, maybe even a full refurbishment. Would not stay again.

Avoid the leisure club at all costs! Both changing rooms in very poor condition. Both clearly have plumbing issues as both had overwhelming faeces smell. Showers pathetic as all shower heads blocked with build up. Sauna is broken (overheard staff talking at reception that it's been "days but it's fine as guests don't mind"). Steam room is big enough for two people, if you don't mind your knees and legs touching. The pictured whirlpool seen online has been tiled over, I imagine it was condemned and cheaper to cover than fix or replace! Is this false advertising? I booked in for a 60 minute massage. When I arrived I asked for a towel and robe, but was told they were only for people who book spa packages. Eventually I got one. Masseuse was lovely, but massage very poor and duration was less than advertised.
