Golden House Hotel & Restaurant

This hotel does not have water. When they are filling the pool which is everyday we have been here, you won’t be able to get water to shower or even wash your hands. When you do get water, it’s extremely minimal. When you call the front desk about the water concern they are not friendly about it and answer quite rudely. The pool doesn’t have bleach in it so not sure how safe/clean the water is, and the floors on the deck by the pool are dangerous as well. They even said when we called yesterday, that they would send maintenance but never did. The beds must of been painted with the wrong type of paint because it stains your clothing and pillowcases. No blow dryer or iron so make sure you don’t need that if booking here. Overall the rest of the staff is very nice, the breakfast is pretty good, but I just wouldn’t stay here again. I definitely would not bring kids here since there isn’t water to shower with. The best thing about the hotel is that most staff is extremely nice (except for the one lady who works the front desk in the morning/afternoon) and they are always cleaning in the halls so it doesn’t smell bad in here. It always smells clean. I wish they had a better workplace.

Extremely Disappointing Stay at Golden House Hotel & Restaurant I had the misfortune of staying at the Golden House Hotel & Restaurant during my visit to the Dominican Republic, and it was by far one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that the property was in serious disrepair and poorly managed. First, the door to my room was severely damaged, leaving me feeling unsafe during my stay. The lock was not properly functional, and you could see where it had been poorly patched up. As if that wasn't enough, there were exposed electrical wires in the room! This is a serious safety hazard that should have been fixed immediately, but it seems the hotel has neglected basic maintenance. The bathroom was no better. The toilet didn’t work properly, causing endless frustration. On top of that, the sink was filthy, making it clear that cleanliness is not a priority here. There were leaks, and water pooled on the floor, making the bathroom unusable at times. It’s absolutely unacceptable for a hotel to provide such conditions. As for the towels, they were old, torn, and had multiple holes in them—definitely not something you would expect from a so-called "hotel." The linens in general were in poor condition, further adding to the overall sense of neglect. To add insult to injury, when I requested a room change, I was charged extra as if it was an "upgrade." This is absolutely absurd considering the state of the original room. The replacement room was no better, filled with the same maintenance and cleanliness issues. I can't believe that I was made to pay extra for such appalling conditions. This hotel is a disaster and an embarrassment to the hospitality industry. The management clearly doesn’t care about the wellbeing or safety of their guests. I strongly urge anyone considering staying here to look elsewhere. Golden House Hotel & Restaurant is a nightmare you don’t want to experience.

AVOID AT ALL COST! The hotel is old and rundown, needs lots of maintenance. Everything you touch breaks or is already broken. But that would have been acceptable (for the price) if the service was not the worst. The first time we entered the room, the key broke. The receptionist was very rude and treated us as if we committed a felony. We had to pay for the key and there was no spare key. We left after 1 night. Don’t stay here! There are better options.
