Golden Parnassus All Inclusive Resort & Spa Adults Only

I'm grateful for the pleasant and hard-working staff who made our stay very comfortable, more than typical American hotels. This isn't high luxury, but I appreciated the laid-back atmosphere. Very clean rooms. Comfortable beds. Easy access to amenities in town. Beautiful beach access, and we saw police monitoring the area several times. Felt very safe here, which made it easy to relax. I heard they are under new management, and I could observe their efforts.

This was our third — and absolutely last — stay at this hotel. What was once a special place for us, where we got engaged and returned yearly to celebrate our anniversary, has deteriorated beyond recognition. From the moment we arrived, the experience was frustrating. We were given towel cards for the pool, only to be told that no towels were available, even though the hotel appeared to be nearly empty. This basic amenity should never be an issue in a resort of this supposed caliber. The quality and variety of food have drastically declined. Options are now extremely limited, and one night they moved the oriental restaurant dinner service to the breakfast buffet area, which completely ruined the ambiance. More than half of the à la carte menu wasn’t even available. To make matters worse, the beachfront restaurant was closed without explanation. Despite having noted we were a couple, we were assigned a room with two small beds and no alternative option was offered. The room itself was musty, smelling of mold, humidity, and age. Several lights didn’t work, and the air conditioning unit was a joke — it only had two settings: off or extremely loud, and still failed to cool the room. There was no phone in the room, which made the supposed room service completely useless. On one morning, someone from the staff knocked and then opened our door uninvited. They quickly shut it upon realizing we were inside. This was deeply unsettling, especially as there was no "Do Not Disturb" sign provided in the room to avoid this kind of intrusion. The overall infrastructure is in serious disrepair. There is only one elevator for all guests, and it is also used for service staff and equipment. The fire extinguishers we saw were completely rusted, which raises serious safety concerns. Just before checking out, we even found a dead cockroach in our room — a final, disturbing detail to an already dismal stay. This place has gone from being one of our most cherished destinations to somewhere we now strongly advise others to avoid. The level of neglect, poor service, and lack of basic maintenance are simply unacceptable. A heartbreaking fall from grace.

The rooms, along with the resort, are in need of repair. The air conditioner did not go below 24 C (75 F) but most of the time it was 27 C ( 80 F) and we were told it would be checked into but never happened. The towels were so old that when you tried to dry your back holding the ends of the towel , it would rip. I understand July is the slow season, 2 restaurants were to be open nightly but some nights it was only one and when you got there, they were out of half the menu. And eating a meal in the extreme heat is not enjoyable. The pool was the most disgusting of all. There were things floating in there that made my stomach turn. We complained and two days later they finally cleaned it with a broken skimmer and only along the edges. There were so many broken tiles my son cut his hand. And don’t get close to the side of the pool because your swimsuit will be covered in mold. The staff is amazing and the highlight of our trip. But unfortunately, we will never return there. The day we left, the power went out in the whole place. Needless to say, we headed to the airport early! I don’t know how they are charging the amounts they are. Not worth it!
