Had a very pleasant trip here with our best friends and stayed for 3 nights. The hotel itself is very nice and is located in a good place considering the river across the road and not far from many bars too. The staff were lovely and very helpful and rooms were very nice too. If I had any criticism it would be mainly about choices of the food. The menu was mainly meat and Dairy which we already expected but the total lack of choice for Vegan or plant based alternatives was very limited. We had told the tour company we went with that we were all vegan and we were told it wouldn’t be a problem, however it wasn’t the case and we just had to accept the offerings of just fruit and salad which was ok but nothing hot for breakfast as an alternative. Even the milk wasn’t an option I.e, soy or Oat or any other so coffee was just black if we wanted it. I was asked what we would of liked so they could give us something and was disappointed the next morning with just a few plant based cheese and pate choices so I took it upon myself to visit the local supermarket which was about 7-8 minutes away and was very surprised at how much plant based choices were available. If only the staff realised this and took the time to check this out before we came it would of been a much better experience and we would of been so grateful that they took the opportunity to care more about customer satisfaction. That’s the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars as everything else was good. I know it’s not for everyone but I have to reinstate that if more care and attention is made towards the minority market of plant based food then more customers will be more likely to visit from all types of food and let’s be honest, the world is changing and even Allergies are becoming more and more important to realise not everyone is the same.
Staff were so helpful and friendly, the room was fine, well equipped and really clean, the hotel is close to the town centre. Food was really good, well cooked nicely presented and at a very good price, we had 2 evening meals here and really enjoyed them. Why give it 3 stars, no Aircon in the public spaces, we were there in the middle of a heateave, this made the restaurant bar and seating areas beside reception unbearable. This has reflected in the lower star score, if It hadn't been for this I would have given the hotel 5* So why not have portable air-condition units, it would make the public areas so much better for your guests and staff. The staff are a real asset to the hotel, and as well as looking after your guests it would make their lives more bearable, they make the hotel experience really memorable.
It's currently 4:54 AM on Sunday morning. Cops have been called at least twice. Bar across the street is extremely loud and does not close until at least 4 AM. Best word for this hotel: worthless and unsleepable. Avoid like the plague. Apart from that, helpful staff (they called the police at least once) and reasonable room all undone by the incessant noise of the Bar next door.
