Graduate by Hilton Iowa City

The location is great and the front desk staff is good too, but the room fixtures don’t look updated. My husband and I had to switch rooms as soon as we arrived because the air conditioning wasn't working properly. The rooms don’t have a bathroom vent so it gets very humid. My toiletry bag got soaked because of the water dripping down the bathroom wall. Furthermore, the website says breakfast is available for $20, but in reality it isn't; it's just a cafeteria where you can buy some snacks and beverage. The staff also didn't come to the room to clean it. We wouldn't stay at this hotel again.

The bathroom lights have motion sensors and kept turning off while I’m inside the shower. At one point the lights won’t even turn on even when I waved. The room was blasting A/C when I checked in, so it was uncomfortably cold. Changing the settings to auto or off didn’t help. It was either too hot or too cold. The hotel and the rooms are dated—not the cleanest either. Location was surrounded by homeless people that could come in the lobby at any time. Only giving 2 stars because of convenience of restaurants being walking distance and has a full gym.

We stayed at the Graduate Hotel in Iowa City for several days and were really disappointed with the experience. The air conditioning didn’t work, which made the room uncomfortable, especially during warmer days. On top of that, housekeeping never came by—no one took out the trash or refreshed our towels the entire stay. The phone in the room didn’t work, so we couldn’t even call the front desk for help, and the mini fridge was broken, which was incredibly inconvenient. While the location is great and the decor is charming, the lack of basic amenities and service made this stay frustrating. Definitely expected more.
