Gran Hotel España

Great base for Oviedo. Walk to everything. The hotel has some character and history. Nice room in the end (first room we were assigned was not so great - v noisy aircon). Helpful staff. Breakfast was an optional extra - coffee was fine but the other offerings varied a bit in quality and choice and depth, some days ok others a bit meh.

Location is perfect, a 5 minute walk to the Cathedral, the archaeology museum, the art museum and food restaurants. Service is perfect. To a one, employees are happy to be working there and help guests with everything. Locked spacious bike room with multiple outlets to recharge ebikes, tools and hand pump, so clean you could eat off the floor! Great breakfasts, buffet or Continental at half the price of the buffet. Rooms are well appointed with updated bathrooms tho not perfectly sound proofed

Apparently this is one of the most historic hotels in the city. However they did an splendid job in the renovations: modern touches that still make the place look historic and old. The rooms were really clean and spacious. The bar was incredible, very Mad Men. Super conveniently located and despite they don't have parking on the building, they offer free parking one block away, so not a big deal at all. (All pictures taken with Pixel 3 XL)
