Gran Hotel Lakua

We used this as a very pleasant stopover ready for our ferry from Bilbao the next morning. Room was a beautifully furnished as a modern twin room with very comfortable beds and beautiful linen, quality towels, and sumptuous bathroom fittings with robes included. Quiet rooms, quiet suburban location, Plenty parking. Great evening meal in the restaurant, and very good breakfast, the best out of 6 different hotels we stayed in on our trip. We walked 10 minutes to the tram stop and it was easy to get a public tram (6 stops) to the city centre, which was ok but not my favourite Spanish city I have to be honest).

The hotel is good and the rooms are big and comfortable. Only disadvantage is it's too far from the city center and you need to walk almost 30-45 minutes.

Rude staff , couldn't care less about foreigners. Apparently we weren't fancy enough to eat in the restaurant, so we were seated in their cafeteria .We ordered medium rare steak but it was completely raw . My room was dirty, piss on the toilet seat , dirty pillow and the small soap bottles hadn't been replaced so a lot of them were empty . This hotel does not meet the standards of a 5 star hotel , not by a long shot. Breakfast was mediocre at best . All in all a very bad experience, spend your money somewhere else ...... Oh and by the way , the pool area is not included in the price , they charge you 27 euros to take a swim 🤬
