Grand Anka Hotel

Had a great experience at this hotel! The rooms were very clean, well-equipped with all the essentials, and had strong Wi-Fi. The service was efficient, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming.

The room was decent, but the cleanliness was poor. The hotel is old and clearly not well-maintained. The bathrooms are very small and uncomfortable, with a bad smell. The room floor was dirty even after asking the staff to clean it. The restaurant is very small with extremely limited food options. The staff were unfriendly. I definitely wouldn’t stay here again.

THE ONLY REVIEW YOU SHOULD TRUST!!! DO NOT STAY AT GRAND ANKA HOTEL. I travelled to Istanbul from Australia and stayed at this hotel from 18/05/25 - 02/06/25, while staying here I had a major surgery. Not only do they charge $110 USD per night for a bad hotel, IT IS NOT SAFE FOR FOREIGNERS!!! During this I already felt unsafe as someone (unknown) was knocking on my hotel room door at 1:00AM. On 26/05/25 I was having breakfast (included in the price) at the buffet downstairs, I assumed given the price and their “safe tourism” claims I would be safe having breakfast at the buffet. A woman that wasn’t a resident of the hotel walked in from the street with her son and stole my handbag that had everything of value I owned in there such as my iPhone 16, jewellery, passport and money in AUD/EUR/TRY currencies. This “safe” hotel has cameras and 5 staff patrolling the buffet to clean up as people come and go but were unable to stop a thief?? I panicked when I had finished my breakfast to see my bag was not there, the staff and hotel security were disgustingly unhelpful and rude to me, after having major surgery this unfortunate event was very traumatic and I feared I almost had a heart attack. I was left with nothing, no money, no phone, NOTHING!!! The bald headed security supposed to be watching the cameras basically said they don’t care and it’s not their fault!! Then why am I paying for the breakfast buffet if I can just enter from the street anyway?? I asked to be given back the money I paid for my hotel stay so that I didn’t take further action, this terrible hotel refused and I was left with no choice but to try my luck with the police (also very unhelpful the Turkish police) and they told me that the hotel is at fault but still NOTHING!!! only was told “we don’t care” “not our fault”. The hotel staff informed me that the SAME woman had stolen someone else’s belongings 5 years prior. The incident is recorded and I have the recording of this. TERRIBLE HOTEL DO NOT GO!! If I could rate negative stars I would.
