Very well located close to the beach and a pedestrian street with restaurants, very friendly personnel. The kitchenette is convenient (could be better equipped though). Good value for money
This place wasn’t the best. There was a sewage smell coming from the sink, and the freezer never worked from day one—no one fixed it until the fifth day, just as we were leaving. The internet was also very unreliable, so don’t count on it. On the positive side, the cleaning staff was friendly, and the top floor near the pool offered a nice view. It’s within walking distance of the beach, 5th Avenue, and several restaurants. However, the roads leading to the property feel a bit rundown. It’s an okay place for adults, but not the best choice for families.
Our stay at Grande 50 suites was mediocre at best. We booked this hotel 3 to 4 weeks in advance. The pictures on the Internet are somewhat deceiving. The lobby is beautiful and well cared for. When we got there, we were given a room on the first floor that I guess was wheelchair accessible. It was a two bedroom one bath, with a kitchenette. We did not specifically book this kind of room. There were several things about the room that should be mentioned. First and foremost, you have to put your key card in a wall mounted thermostat to make the air conditioner work. When you go out for the day, you will return to a hot and muggy room because this feature makes the air conditioning turn off when you take your key card out. They will not give you two key cards. The air conditioning unit is in the first bedroom area, which makes the second bedroom area much warmer. It says it’s two bedroom, but know that you have to go through the main bedroom to get to the bathroom, not suitable for two couples. The shower door in our bathroom was either broken or just never replaced, there was only one, so water went all over the floor when we showered. The tile and flooring are very old with ground in dirt in the grout. The first floor has no view at all, you are literally looking at a concrete wall. There are windows on the front side that look out into the lobby so you have to keep your curtains closed. The blackout curtains in the kitchen area had food splattered on them. The appliances are dated, very few dishes are supplied, very old pans to cook with. The rooftop pool is a nice feature, however, there were only six chairs by the pool. They had seating in a large covered area. That would be nice if you just wanted to sit in the shade. There looks to be a bar area up there, but no hotel personnel were ever present in that area. The two young ladies that worked during the day were pleasant and easy to deal with. The man who worked the desk in the evening, not so much. He ignored my family member when she came up to the desk and asked a question. When she walked away, he finally answered her question. We came back in the evening after being out for the day, bringing our friends small family into the lobby with us. When my family member went into the room and asked the one friend to come look at something, the man followed behind them, pushed the hotel room door open and told our friend to get out. In no way were we attempting to have other people stay in the rooms with us. I can only assume that’s what the man thought was happening. I will not stay at this hotel again.
