Grand Hotel Callao

We were moved here when our booked hotel in town had double booked. Pool was nice, food and bar were pretty good. Restaurant and bar staff were excellent. But - We weren't near enough to a resort for my wife's knee to do the decent uphill walk from the nearest beach. Our room and also the bar didn't appear to have any UK TV, or any Premiership football, though to be fair, most guests weren't British. We found it a little too remote, though there is a free mini bus to town and back daily.

The 4 star rating is not fully deserved, the staff is lovely and hard working. The place need to be dragged into the 21st century. Its slightly outdated, no kettle in the room, no iron, all have to be requested with a 10Euro deposit. The food is not fully prepared to 4 star quality.. The location is wonderful and the views a fabulous however, to access the hotel it's best serve by renting a car.. the beach is about 25 mins walk.

The staff was excellent, friendly, and super hardworking! The hotel, however, needs a major upgrade. For example, we paid a 10 Euro per towel deposit, and the towels had big holes in them. Could definitely use some more entertainment at night, the nights seemed very long and slightly boring. The evening bartender was super!
