Great pool area and bar, rooms are spacious and all staff are extremely helpful and friendly. My husband arrived at the hotel with a toothache, the concierge got him an appointment with a local dentist 2 hours after arrival. Highly recommend, there is a bit of a walk uphill to Valletta, but the hotel has a well organised shuttle bus service that runs every 20 minutes. Love this hotel 🏨 😍

Overall, I had a lovely stay at the Grand Hotel Excelsior. The service was excellent, staff were friendly and welcoming, and the views were stunning. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the location is ideal for exploring Valletta. That said, there are a few areas where things could be improved. The pool area is quite small for a hotel of this size, and the queues for the lifts can get frustrating at peak times. Some parts of the hotel could benefit from better maintenance, and the breakfast options, while decent, felt a bit average and repetitive over a few days. Also worth noting: the massage and spa prices were extremely high – though that’s run by an external company. Despite these things, I’d still recommend the hotel and would consider staying again. Just don’t go in expecting a full 5-star experience on all fronts.

This hotel boasts an excellent location for exploring Valletta; however, the service unfortunately does not consistently meet the standards expected of a 5-star establishment. While the staff are generally pleasant, the service is frequently slow and can, at times, feel neglectful. Guests may experience periods of being overlooked. Breakfast presents a somewhat chaotic atmosphere, though the omelettes prepared at the two egg stations are commendable. The remainder of the buffet offers an adequate selection. However, getting a cup of coffee can be a challenge as staff appear to not be doing very much at all. Bar service is notably sluggish. While this may be attributed to a significant number of new staff members, it is an issue requiring attention. Tables are often left uncleared, and guests may find it more efficient to order drinks directly at the bar. Food available at the bar was tasty and well presented although again actually ordering is a challenge. Check out was disappointing with items charged to our room that we had not charged. Whilst they were removed promptly it was clear from the signatures they were for other people.
