Grand Hotel Excelsior

3.85/5 We booked a room with breakfast. Throughout the whole nine day stay we wondered where the hotel got its fourth star from. We were told that the private beach with sunbeds is included in the price. Still you had to pay $5 a day because you only got folding deck chairs. Not really a problem with the facilities, more so with the transparency. The pool was big and just promised the service was great. The waiters at the buffet breakfast were exceptionally friendly and kind. The issue was the price-to-performance ratio. The price included services that should be variable or removed, still a lot of it was included and not needed or used. I guess the fault was on our half as well for choosing the hotel in the first place.

Great hotel at a good price. Directly on the beach with a voucher included with your room for amenities on the beach. I did not use the spa so cannot comment on that but overall the hotel was clean and well presented. The hotel is clearly favoured by the older generations though and the decor reflects this

I hate to do this but have to… I and my family were in the hotel in the summer of 2022 for a whole week. The first 2/3 days were frankly great. The food is delicious, the staff in the restraurant is amazingly kind and helpful, the rooms and hotel as of whole are a little old, but for us it didn’t make a significant difference. Unfortunately it completely changed after those few days. One day after lunch we returned to our room to get ready for our trip. Once I reached to my cosmetics bag it occured to me that my perfume was gone. For a while I thought that maybe I had put it somewhere in the room, however after checking it thrice my perfume was nowhere there. We reported this situation to the hotel reception who said that such accident had never happened before. Sadly there is no monitoring in the hall therefore we had no proof. During our check-out we again told them that the whole problem had not been resolved. The hotel manager told us that it is our issue and due to lack of evidence she will give us no compentation at all. What is more, she complained we even went to her with this issue and told us that we must have either left it somewhere during our stay or put it in the luggage. We left the hotel bitter with no compensation whatsoever. It is pitful, because if this nonsense had never happenedo, I would have honestly given this hotel a 5* raiting.
