Grand Hotel Miramare

We enjoyed a great week there this September. The location is great with easy access to the town, the gondola to the beach & the bus station for trips out. The rooms are typically old Italian style but the views from the rooms and particularly the breakfast restaurant terrace are just terrific. The real gem of the hotel is the pool & poolside bar area. These are spacious, not crowded with a huge pool and lots of sun loungers. The nearby bar served lots of cold drinks & tasty lunches. Definitely worth a look if you need a reasonably priced hotel in a great location.

We stayed here for 3 nights in September 2023 with a last minute booking. The hotel is well priced for a hotel that has the perfect location. You are 5-10 minutes stroll to Taormina and well located to walk down or get the cable car to the beaches. The hotel has a beautiful location on the hill with lots of good views. The hotel has a nice pool area with a bar. It is a lot of steps down but it isn’t too bad. The sun came in the morning and in the afternoon the pool area was in the shade. You get free breakfast with your room which has a decent enough range. All the breakfast staff are great. The rooms are fine. Small and basic but has everything you need and the rooms were tended for each day. I recommend this hotel due to value for money and the location!

The lobby looks freshly renovated and it is very beautiful. The pool has been renovated recently and it looks really nice, also the bar area is cosy. But unfortunately the bottom of the swimmingpool is dirty, leaves, ground and sand some umbrells are torn... But the worst is that it is open only between 10 to 18, then don't expect to take an early bath or a late one after your exhausting sightseeing. The garden surrounding the pool is not maintained, it's a shame to see it messy like that, the tennis court has became a garbage dump and a parking lot. The room looks a bit over old, welcome back in the 80'. The big bed is 2 gathered beds that is not convenient, they are hard and noisy. The bathroom is plenty of mould, some fixing have been roughly made, very dirty job... The AC is noisy even if it's switched off, you can not really manage the temperature, it's over cold, then better to switch off for the night. The breakfast is included and is continental, quite basic : some cheeses, omelette, mini sausages and bacon and also yogurt, Cornflakes, non well selected fruits... The quality is industrial just average taste. Fruit juices are awful. The staff is very nice and careful, that's a good point. We have been upgraded to a seaview room instead of the parking due to a twin beds mistake and we have really appreciated it. We have paid 128€ per night through a third part app, it isn't worth more. NB: from the pool you can reach isola Bella and save many steps and time and it's quite easy, even the up. To sum up he stay at the hotel was pleasant regarding the price. Between I don't recommend to have a stay at Taormina, it's too crowded and very expensive compared to the rest of Sicily. It is nice but definitely a trap tourist town.
