Grand Hotel Plovdiv

The hotel clearly has the best staff - at the reception and all. We celebrated our graduation anniversary there and the organization and service were beyond excellent. The most polite and trained staff I have ever seen in a hotel. The accommodation also was excellent. Strongly recommend as a place for your event and stay.

Clean rooms, unique 60s character, and wonderfully helpful staff. Yes, the building shows minor age-related quirks, but absolutely nothing to seriously complain about. For a comfortable, no-fuss stay with personality – good value. Would stay again!

Hotel smells like cigarettes and fragrant cleaning products. The smell of cigarettes in our first room was very strong. The room was anyway too small, and so we paid to upgrade to a suite, and this room also smelled like cigarettes too. The table was covered in cigarette ash (see photo). To allow for a third guest in the suite was an additional 60 euros per night, which seemed like a lot of money considering it already comes with the sofa bed. I understand that it is a casino adjacent hotel, and there is sometimes a faint smell of cigarettes at these type of properties but it really was too much. The next morning I asked about checking out early, and they would not refund the rate. The suite was very spacious but the bathroom did not have a door which is uncomfortable when staying with 3 people.
