Grand hotel Starý Smokovec

We were very satisfied with our stay at the hotel. The room was clean and large, the bed very comfortable. The breakfast was great, a large selection of hot and cold dishes, and every morning there were some new dishes to choose from. The hotel is excellently situated, just a few minutes from the electric railway stop. All the hotel staff were very friendly and professional. We were there during the International Women's Day and all the women were given a flower. It was very nice. The wellness area is big, there is a swimming pool, but not suitable for swimming. The water and air temperature is high. There are also several saunas, a small pool with cold water, there is also a bar. We will definitely return to this historic hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay in Grand Hotel and will be back for sure. It is located in the heart of town with less than walking distance to a train station, mountain train, and all the amenities, which makes it totally convenient to leave a car for the whole stay. The view is spectacular, especially from the rooms facing south. They were clean and spacey. The bathrooms could be little more functional with showers instead of baths. Swimming pool is renovated and has amazing sauna zone. Half board also met our expectations. We liked reach breakfasts, dinners could be little more vegetarian friendly. What stands out is the staff, which made the stay the one to remember. Not mentioning the fact, that they found a cell phone of our son, who he lest in the room… ;-) kids

First I say about the staff: very good, friendly and polite. Food options not alot but quality is ok and taste nice enough to enjoy. Room quality: bed is good and comfortable to sleep but bathroom is disaster! Very old and very uncomfortable to use specially when the shower head has been installed towards to narrow side of the bath instead of the long side(towards to shower screen ) and don't move up or down and spray directly to your face and shower screen ! Very wrong design by who ever is involved!.they allow dogs in rooms and we are already suffering with every move my wife and i try to make and he or she barks!!!Prices aren't too bad compared to the UK prices . Our kids and us all enjoyed our trip here because the country is lovable. And all slovakians are lovely people. Give them a chance to build their experiences and businesses. Im sure slovakia will be future European destination if they do it right.
