We spent an extended weekend at Grand Hotel Ter Duin with the whole family (three generations) and had a truly wonderful stay. Each family booked a room that fit their specific needs, and everything was arranged with great care. I had asked for a small surprise in the rooms as we were celebrating two birthdays, and the hotel handled this perfectly: the rooms were beautifully decorated, and we even received vouchers for coffee or tea with apple pie. Such a kind gesture that added a personal touch to our arrival. Our family stayed in the apartment, which had two separate bedrooms. A rare find in hotels, but an absolute highlight for us. It gave us the best of both worlds: the comfort of a hotel and the privacy of our own space. The kids loved having their own room, and we appreciated the extra room to unwind. Breakfast was generous and varied, constantly being replenished. The breakfast room had a cosy, softly lit atmosphere, perfect for slow mornings. We also had the swimming pool almost entirely to ourselves most of the time, which meant the children could splash around freely. The lounge really stood out: spacious, beautifully decorated, and actually used by guests ... unlike many hotel lounges that feel empty or forgotten. We spent several relaxed moments there, enjoying the wide choice of drinks, snacks, tapas and full meals. The service throughout the hotel was friendly and approachable. Reception was always ready to help and happy to provide suggestions for things to do in the area. This was the perfect getaway for our multi-generational family. Every one of us, from kids to grandparents, felt at home and well taken care of. We’d happily come back.
Everything about this hotel was good apart from the overpriced breakfast (eat somewhere else!)...A good location with reasonably priced parking. The staff were friendly and helpful. We appreciated the upgrade room which was roomy and comfortable. The bathroom was spacious but had terrible lighting & no magnifying mirror. The large shower with a surprisingly small shower head was odd. The breakfast is expensive and really not worth the price ~ all the hot food was cold, & the selection was below average. I would not have breakfast here again.
I finally stayed in the hotel for a night. I didnt look up much about the surroundings of the hotel as I wanted to have no expectations, however I was a little disappointed to find out that the hotel wasnt as close to the the dunes as the name indicates. Nevertheless, the outside looks fantastic, but the inside decoration of the lobby even more so. I was in interior heaven with all the blue and the wood. Our room was great, some furniture was a little outdated. I didnt like the hall and staircases; it really needs a lick of paint. Swimming pool was alright, but the changing room needed freshening up, and the pool area needed a little tidying. Breakfast was basic and a little overpriced, but yummy. Overall we had a fantastic time!
