Grand Hotel Vanvitelli

A confusing hotel. Probably good for business, but very poor for tourists. It reminded us of those large hotels in Dubai or Saudi that cover everything in fake "heritage" items and marble but is not genuine or authentic . Unfortunately the location really is poor, right on the intersection of a busy road and a motorway. The local area is not nice so you cannot really walk about. We thought from the photos and views that we were arriving at a country heritage hotel with spa, but actually the pool closes at 6pm and the spa has to be booked and was full (plus extra money). So we stayed in our room. On the plus side rooms were well furnished and dinner was excellent. So I would say great for business or a brief stopover, but treat it like a Travelodge and not like a destination in its own right. Staff were all fantastic, apart from the spa staff who were unfortunately a bit snotty.

Air conditioning broken! Staff offered to "reset" the air conditioning, but it didn't work. Each time they said I had to wait 30 minutes. It didn't work. My flight was cancelled and the airline sent me here. Never would choose this hotel. Hotel room has carpeting! I generally do not stay in hotels with carpeting for cleanliness reasons. Last day of holiday ruined.

I paid for 30 minutes massage and got only 20 minutes massage in the hotel spa. The excuse was that the therapist didnt look at the clock. They did not want to return the money , and after i made a scene , they gave me back 10 euro instead of full refund of 45 euro.
