I spent the entire day at the resort killing time before my late return flight home. I thoroughly enjoyed the spa atmosphere. The quality of service is superb. The food is great. The amenities are great also. If your undecided between the pool and spa...choose the spa. I bought passes for both and spend most of my time at the spa because I liked it best. The resort is also located in an area with plenty of amenities for shopping, dining and activities.
The pool and waterside are amazing. There was never a line for the waterside. My kid went down that thing 100 times. There is a sand area in the pool! And the sand stays contained to that area. The pool is refreshing and worth spending all your time in. The only negative was the price of the drinks at the pool bar. Two margaritas and a lemonade was $50.
We stayed here for a quick overnight staycation and had mixed feelings. Upon arrival, we were greeted by valet who informed us that self parking was down the street, and we’d need to walk back to the hotel to check in. To be fair, the main self park lot appeared to be under construction during our stay, but it was still inconvenient. It would’ve been nice to check in quickly before having to move the car. The rooms are nicely updated with large TVs, accent lighting, and spacious bathrooms. However, the sliding barn door style bathroom door was a baffling design choice. It offers minimal privacy, which is especially awkward for families. Whoever approved that probably doesn’t have kids. The TV remote was missing when we arrived, so we had to call the front desk to get a replacement set up. Not the biggest deal, but come on.. Each room has a patio, which is a nice idea in theory, but they’re packed tightly together. If your neighbors are outside, expect little to no privacy, making the space essentially unusable. The pool was a hit with the kids, especially the new slide, which was fast and fun even for adults. Unfortunately, the pool area was extremely dirty. We saw cups, cans, drinks, limes, napkins, and other unidentified items both floating in the water and piled along the edge. We even found dead cockroaches under the lounge chairs in the morning. It was a huge letdown for what’s supposed to be a 4 star hotel. The in room coffee was terrible, so we went to Canyon Market for breakfast. Despite it not being busy, two of our food items were forgotten and no apology was offered. On top of that, one of the two lobby elevators was out of service. Overall, while the renovations give the hotel an upscale appearance, several poor design choices, lack of attention to detail, and disappointing cleanliness, especially at the pool, make it hard to recommend. Sadly, even with the recent updates, this hotel feels past its prime. We likely won’t return.
