Grand Hôtel Abbatiale Bénodet The Originals Relais

Our room with a view over the estuary was marvellous. The hotel is old but the view is truly timeless. I have sailed the coast of Brittany for more than 60 years. Benodet is my favourite port of call. It is just so peaceful; perfect tranquillity in this tumultuous world of ours!

We visited in a heat wave and were lucky enough to get room 501 which has windows on both sides of the building and thus you can get a through draught in the night. Very pleasant hotel with attentive staff. The one complaint I would have would be about the WiFi which requires you to go through a meaningless login procedure (you can put any old nonsense so it doesn't achieve anything) and then repeat it each time you come back into the hotel. This is severely outdated and it's time hotels stopped doing it. (Or at least fix the software so you need to do it only once per device.)

Location was good. However if you are British, do not come to this hotel as you are treated differently to everyone else. And when I questioned the lady behind the desk couldn't care one bit and was very rude to us. The rooms don't have air conditioning so you have to have the windows open to cool down. Due to the proximity to the quayside and local bars you hear all the drunks at 1/2 in the morning. Overall I would not recommend this hotel to groups or British people as you will be treated differently to everyone else.
