The place is strategically located in the BSB area. By simply walking, you can get everything you need. The room is spacious but looks old. I booked a nonsmoking room, but the bathroom smelled of cigarette smoke.
Share the same building as the mall in Balikpapan Super Block. Plenty of clothing stores but a bit high on the tabs. Had Korean dinner. Just okay. Nothing to shout about. Grand Jatra is an old hotel. Room 653 the floor require refurbishing.
Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience with the hotel. The lobby smells of cigarettes and so does the restaurant. People can smoke freely inside the restaurant and what makes it worse is that a lot of kids were around. The room was okay, but the mattress was extremely uncomfortable. The pool has a lot of missing tiles, which is extremely dangerous. The gym was okay, but the aircon wasn't working, which wasn't pleasant when the temperature outside was over 30C. The only good thing about this hotel is the location that very convenient. I wouldn't say it's a 5-star hotel, it’s more like a 3-star hotel in my opinion.
