Excellent hotel, yet pricey and poor-serviced restaurants. Fortunately, the rooms have a full kitchen.
Unfortunately, didn't get a ocean view room. Quite a walk to anywhere offsite.
We purchased this trip through a fundraiser event. Upon purchasing I did not fully understand what I was getting. After further review I was dreading the trip… nonetheless we went. We chose the Grand Mayan in Acapulco. The property was nice and the staff works hard. We were offered a tour and they tried to get us to attend one of their time share sessions we declined. They attempted again later on in the week but again we declined. If you say no and put effort into staying away from their sales staff you will be fine. To avoid dealing with anyone we upgraded our room while booking. Before entering the room we were ensured we were provided the room we booked. They were placing people on the street side to make them interact with the sales staff -even if they were members- we did not mind the view we had so we were fine. Our room was nice, clean and what we expected. The plunge pool we added was fun and nice. The only thing that got annoying was how often house keeping wanted to be in our room. Twice a day is not a big deal… only when it’s done when you are out of your room. The poor lady was knocking on our door at 10pm. To complete our turn down service. We put effort into not being in our room so they could clean. We tried to match her schedule. Not It all the restraints were open. So meals became a little redundant… they do have a little market on campus but it’s poorly stocked. Unless your diet consists of chips. The food was good and when a restaurant was open we would try it. -Keep receipts and read over them before signing.- the prices vary from place to place. But the food was good. Our favorite was the Italian restaurant. Server- David. The drinks where good and happy hour is the best time to get them. The staff will let you know it starts and stops. We found the night life to be doll… no entertainment besides a DJ that played music older than us. The pools are great and would only go to the beach at night. The beach is on federal lands so the resort can not stop individuals from approaching you to attempt to sale you stuff. So, we only went when they were gone. We also went to the spa and enjoyed the treatments. The workout equipment is dated but does the job. I was happy to see that we did not have to pay for this. The spa treatments were nice. I have always felt like the messages and facials were better in MX. Over all we enjoyed our trip. I will not ever purchase another trip like this again. But, it’s a nice place and we enjoyed ourselves and were ready to go home. -I am not sure if this is a four star hotel. As it says on their wall.- I have stayed at better resorts both in Mexico and in the States.
