The hotel is conveniently located in the Shanghai Hongqiao expat district. The executive lounge has great value and quite a variety of foods for evening cocktail time. The rooms are spacious and some of them include kitchen and washing machine. The staff is very kind and has an acceptable level of English. The place is convenient if you come from Pudong either.

Booked this property because there isn't any other All Accor hotel that accommodates 4 adults in a room. The 2 bedroom suite in Grand Mercure Hongqiao is cosy and resembles a 2 bedroom apartment, minus the cookware. It has a washing machine but does not provide laundry detergent. The suite comes with access to the executive lounge which in my opinion, resembles left-over breakfast items. The canapes offered are basically some items you had for breakfast that morning, which I feel, is the only need for improvement. Location wise, you have to hail didi rides to get to places, but this is not the issue for us. Would I return for another stay? Well, maybe not. However, the beds were comfortable and the staff were awesome.

The only drawback of this hotel is that the showers are generally weak, too weak. It's a great location for Japanese people as it's an easy place to live. There is also a washing machine in the room, which is helpful when you don't have much luggage. I use this hotel almost every month for work, but as it has deteriorated, the rooms have become more and more hit-or-miss. I hate being in a room on a rainy day where the window lever is broken and I can't close it. The first priority should be to improve the force of the shower. Other than that, it's not a big issue.
