Grand Park Otaru

Stayed one night with sea facing view, room is very big and clean, acceptable furnishings, good to sit at the sofa enjoy the sea view. Below the hotel is a big shopping mall with Aeon and many eateries nearby.

Travel period: July 2025 1st thing that hit us as we reached then 8th floor to our room. The smell!!! Seemed the hallway to rooms is not ventilated at all. Room Again the room had a smell too. Which ofc went away when we turned on the aircon. Perhaps was just not ventilated. - size : really happy about the size. Large room as we needed it. We travelled with large bags so really need a big room - carpet : looked rather old and had stains - sofa : also looked old and had stains - bed : thankfully was comfortable! Slept well. - duvet : had a musty smell though so kept that away from my nose. Bathroom - size : decently large - shower force was great. Felt good to shower. But the shower curtains had a bad smell that made it impossible to enjoy a bath! Was really horrible! Sorry im not the one to give bad reviews. But this one i just couldnt stand! They really need to pay attn to this. Even my husband could smell it! Location: Not bad. They are at OtaruChikko station. Hotel had an 8 min walk to the station through a mall. 2 train stops to main Otaru station not bad. But Trains can take 20 mins to arrive in non peak, so plan acc. Costs jpy 540 for a single return ticket. Service and staff - friendly! - also have staff from china as have a lot of tourists from china at the hotel. So if you speak only chinese. This helps. Other services They have a money changing machine at the lobby. We didnt try the breakfast or any meals as we were keen to eat out.

The hotel is located in a mall, which is convenient for shopping and Otaru Chikkō train station is also nearby. The room is bigger compared to other hotels in Japan. Apparently this hotel has been operating for a long time, and the furniture shows the wear of countless guests and years. Dust is clearly visible on the lamp covers and some stains are on the chairs. But the most disappointing thing is the service. In the morning I told the reception desk that there is some mold at the vent of the air-conditioning and the receptionist said that the cleaner would work out. When I was back in the evening, nothing happened! It is certainly low quality as a four star hotel in Japan.
