Stayed here for 1 night with my wife, we had a great experience. It’s a bit of a corporate vibe in the hallways, but in the rooms they’re cozy and well equipped. We arrived and were provided complementary sparkling wine and valet, offered coffee or water in the lobby, the staff were super friendly. The fitness centre is great, has everything you need. The grounds are beautiful and they have turn down service with water chocolate and anything else you might need. Room had a balcony, comfortable bed and a great Illy coffee set up which I enjoyed. Overall I’d highly recommend it, punches at the top of its 4 Star rating for sure.
Disappointed Stay – Not Worth $390/Night I had high hopes for The Meritage Resort and Spa given its reputation and the $390/night price tag, but unfortunately, our experience was far from what you’d expect at a luxury property. Upon arrival, we immediately noticed the room was not up to acceptable standards of cleanliness or maintenance — not even close. There were hairs on the bathroom floor and stuck to the shower walls, which made us question whether the room had been cleaned at all. Mold was visible on the tile, and soap scum coated part of the shower wall, adding to the overall feeling of neglect. The floors were grimy, and we noticed spider webs in the corners of the ceiling, along with layers of dust on surfaces that clearly hadn’t been touched in some time. Both rooms we were in had vanities that were stained, scratched, and blemished, which only further reinforced that cleanliness and upkeep are not priorities here. Throughout the rooms and hallways, we saw dings, scuffs, and smudges on walls, baseboards, and doors. It was hard not to notice how worn everything looked — like the resort hasn’t been properly maintained in a while. At nearly $400 a night, this was incredibly disappointing. We’ve stayed at far more modest hotels with far better standards. For a resort that markets itself as upscale, this fell well short. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend The Meritage based on our experience — the value simply isn’t there, and the basic standards of cleanliness and maintenance are seriously lacking. I spoke with Mr. Toby whom I was not happy with after my interaction so I asked for his supervisor. Mr. Sam was not available so I left a note for him to reach back to me. TBC
No one was at the front desk for check in so we had to walk across the street to their “sister hotel” to check in. Website says valet and bag service but no one was available. We had to park around back by the kitchen because no one was there to show us how to get to our room. We asked for our room to be cleaned and no one serviced it. I travel the world and this is the lowest budget service in terms of quality.
