Grand Safir Hotel

It was good. Interesting food. But good. Asked if the fried chicken dish was white meat. Oh, we only use white meat. It turned out to be fried thighs. The sour faced Filipina waitress that clearly didn't want to be there, made it less pleasant that it should have been.

Stayed at the Grand Safir Hotel Bahrain for 4 days, and my experience had its ups and downs. I had booked for 5 days and informed them in advance that I’d be arriving a day late. Despite this, when I finally arrived, they told me the rooms were full and had already given mine away, which I found extremely unfair given that I’d paid in advance. During my stay, the room was not cleaned daily, which was disappointing. On a positive note, the location is convenient and the room itself was decently clean. Overall, not really worth the hassle for the price. Three stars.

I paid £27 in total for a night, including the taxes, so the review has to be within the context of what I had paid. The hotel is tucked away in a side street along with similairly dated old hotel buildings. The room was huge but sparcely decorated. The furniture and the decor were dated but clean. A slippers, drinking water, and a basic shaving kit were provided. The hotel is within walking distance of Jaffair Mall, which has seen better days. I thought the hotel was adequate for a night. Return taxi fare from the airport worked out more than the stay.
