The hotel is located perfectly just across the street from the private beach. Yes - the rooms are super outdated and need a renovation, the bathrooms are renovated at least. Still, the rooms were very clean and I slept well. You shouldn’t expect a luxury resort but a solid Italian hotel. Breakfast was good with varieties of food like focaccia, fresh fruit, vegetables and of course the standard European breakfast stuff. The staff was friendly and check-in and check-out was quick and easy. All in all I had a very pleasant stay and will return to Sestri Levante for sure.
The Grande Albergo is situated within a six minute walk to the train station and directly across the street from the beach. It’s right in the center of this magnificent beach front. We were here for two nights and one full day so we didn’t get to use the pool. We did enjoy the breakfast as it was a great selection of breads and pastries, cold meats and cheese as well as fruits, cereals and yogurt. There were scrambled eggs and bacon and a selection of machine brewed coffees as well as still and sparkling water and juices. The room was very small and the bathroom, well, tiny. I had difficulty bending to wash my legs and feet in the shower. The bed was comfortable, but very firm. The view from our room was of an unused courtyard. The biggest plus of the room was how quiet it was. Cool and quiet. We made use of the restaurant attached to the hotel, the Delfino Bianco, look for a separate review. It was wonderful. There are so many restaurant options along the beach front you won’t go hungry. The staff were helpful and friendly and the location is undeniably beautiful.
One of the worst I have ever tried. We arrived extremely tired at 12:15 am. The receptionist was very rude. He watched us unload the luggage without attempting to help. I asked for a trolley because we had boxes we needed to unload due to the heat (external parking only), he pointed to one but didn’t bother to ask if we needed help. He gave us the key cards and told us the room was on the 3rd floor and left us to find it. We killed a spider, a weird creature and a mosquito as soon as we arrived. The room is very shabby and the AC wouldn’t go lower than 21 C. The bed was so hard and without a duvet, only a very rough and light sheet. The bathroom is very old and cramped with a sliding door that doesn’t really provide privacy. The breakfast was so unappetizing with flies and all around we couldn’t eat. The coffee was self service from an industrial machine. We checked out the day after (2 nights earlier than planned)
