Grange Buckingham Hotel

Stayed here for one night for work. Very friendly reception staff and the room was very comfortable (got upgraded to a suite). Nicely situated in a reasonably quiet area off Russell Square and just a stone's there from the British Museum.

I stayed I a room with my family, of four people. The room was big enough and the room service was very good, when we were out they fixed the bed and sent us water and biscuits for free, the breakfast was also very good a lot of classic British food, but I miss some beans. The breakfast was also a little bit small so we had to sit in the hall, but overall very good.

I was duped by Priceline into believing this is a 4-star hotel. My room was spacious. And the wow factor ends there! I am well acquainted with staying in historic buildings. I actually enjoyed them and their history. Additionally, this is not my time in England. Which is the biggest blessing. I shudder to think what a tourist would think if this was their 1st trip! The rooms are EXTREMELY antiqued! Dusty, dingy, and in poor condition. My windows (i was directly at street level) were etched with previous inhabitants' names. Carpets were filthy, the "kitchenette built into a closet in the large foyer could have been interesting had it been cleaned and updated. For instance, the microwave looked like something from mid 1980's! I chose not to use the coffee pot nor mini fridge due to lack of cleanliness. Furthermore, if amenities are what you are seeking.....forget about that! There are no amenities, except 2 bottles of water and a couple of packets of cookies. While a welcome thought, this is closer to a 1 star hotel! I could hear EVERY conversation in the lobby (across from my room, EVERY TIME the front door opened, EVERY noise/conversation outside! The 2 staff members I interacted with were kind. Lastly, this part of London is quite out of the way. Its in a neighborhood setting and appears to be an OLD.... VERY OLD...flat needing much repair.
