Greif Hotel & Spa Trieste

11/10 to the hotel employees who made our stay more enjoyable, they were there for everything we needed, food was delicious and some made just for us! Room was clean and we had the most beautiful view.

The hotel was nice. Price and quality are good. The breakfast is amazing and the view is great. Parking place is for free. You can also travel to Triest by bus, which is really convenient. You can have a swim around 8 minutes on foot, is a really unique place, it's not the conventional beach but the water is really clear ans fresh.

Who knows where the photo of what purports to be the hotel on Google comes from. It has no relation to any reality. Likewise, the 5* that the hotel accords itself is risible. This is nowhere near a 5. Might just nudge a 4. A spa and a closed pool do not make it such. Conversely, the staff are great. The rooms as modernised absolutely do the job. The breakfast is terrific. As is the view from the 4th floor terrace. Which includes the famous lighthouse when the blinds are pushed open. Location works very well. Good parking. They seem to have sold off what was the garden. Did an apartment block and some spaces. The front garden is hardly tended, has no shades and is on the road. Not a place to sit and enjoy. The breakfast 4th floor terrace would be a much better bet for an evening drink. Getting into the centre on the bus is quick and cheap. A handout about bus numbers, times and stops would be a good and easy to implement idea. Along with having tickets available. Away from the city just up the road is the beach and some places to eat and drink. We enjoyed our visit and would return. PS Loved the map of Hapsburg Austria on the wall behind the reception desk. Wish someone would make a detailed scan of each sheet and send it to me. Or make it available for guests to download.
