Grootbos Nature Reserve

We had the privilege of staying at Grootbos lodge for a special family outing in May, and it was truly the best experience we’ve ever had in terms of customer service, hospitality, food, wine, and accommodation which was simply next level. The guides were excellent! But what stood out above all was the professional, skilled, and genuinely heart-warming staff. They made us feel so welcome and cared for from the moment we arrived. It was with heavy hearts that we had to leave, as Grootbos found its way deep into all of ours. So, it’s with great excitement that I can say—we’ll definitely be back soon.

We just spent three nights at Grootbos to celebrate my wife’s 50th birthday, with our 8-year-old daughter in tow—and wow, what an experience. While in Cape Town and wine country, every time I mentioned we were headed to Grootbos, locals’ eyes lit up. Now I know why. Even with rainy weather most of the time, our stay was incredible. The staff was warm and welcoming, the spa treatments were next-level, and the food—absolutely out of this world. Our daughter practically lived in the kids club, and Lou was hands-down the friendliest, kindest person we met on the entire trip. It gave my wife and me the rare chance to enjoy a peaceful dinner, just the two of us. The rooms are massive, beautifully appointed, and offer total privacy. Grootbos delivers a special kind of magic—one that stays with you long after you leave.

Just returned from an unforgettable family getaway at Grootbos Private Nature Reserve 🌿 nestled above Walker Bay in South Africa. We stayed at the Garden Lodge, and from the moment we arrived, it was pure magic. The lodge is surrounded by lush milkwood forest, offering a perfect blend of comfort and nature. Our days were filled with indoor and outdoor activities for the kids from guided nature walks and horse riding to hands on eco learning and forest games. To be honest, they have a great team when it comes to the kids’ area and activities, led by elche & William, who kept our kids informed, active, and entertained all day long. Their energy and creativity made a real difference. The management team was outstanding special thanks to Justin and Wanita, who went above and beyond to offer us all kinds of support and truly made us feel at home. Food was included and of a high standard fresh, locally sourced meals served with care. Rene, from the food and beverage team, was absolutely fantastic in accommodating every request for us and our kids, always with a smile. Our stay package included all meals and several outdoor adventures, such as: Whale watching (seasonal) 🐋. Guided hiking and horse riding. Exploring ancient caves. Forest games and night walks. Star gazing ✨ Feeding chickens and rabbits 🐇🐔 And plenty of relaxed moments in between which was guided by chris.
