Wonderful experience at this historic restaurant in central York. Atmosphere inside and in the beer garden are fantastic. We had the local beer in the glass mug with the Guy Fawkes mask on it, beer battered haddock with chips and the Guy Fawkes Steak and Ale pie. We ended up sharing each others plates because they were both so good. Super happy with the experience and as amateur historians you can't beat the building and the stories it has to share! Thanks for a great evening!

Nice pub, looks small from the outside, but go in and the place is smallish, the toilets definitely so compared with the amount of customers. They have 3 courtyard, 1 small, 2 larger and the 3rd largest with large umbrellas, covering for the occasional rainy day. Nice staff good service.. the tables have a QR code on them to use when ordering, but be warned when it's busy you will be waiting for your drinks and food. Great location and with Guy Falks connection prices reflected this. Recommended though. Good atmosphere.

We booked in at the Guy Fawkes Inn as it was in such a central location and boasted of ‘an unrivalled view of York Minster’. Imagine my disappointment as I walked up to the building and discovered it was shrouded in scaffolding, as was the building opposite, completely obscuring the view not only of the Minster but anything else! . Given the advertising and the cost of the stay I feel I’ve been generous giving the review 4 stars. However, once inside the building it is quirky and filled with information about Fawkes and the other plotters. We stayed in a four poster room and although fairly small was very comfortable and clean. Downstairs there are two bars and restaurant. The latter provides quality food and I heartily recommend the steak and ale pie. At the rear of the Inn you will find extensive outside seating. The ales on offer were reasonably good but I found better elsewhere.
