The room, individual patio garden, restaurant, pool, and the whole historic building were stunning! There are very old and stunning religious statues and paintings throughout the halls, restaurant, grounds and the grand reception area and lounge. It has an overall warm and welcoming feeling. The breakfast buffet was wonderful, with the serving staff friendly and gracious. I withdrew 1 star because the reception staff and the restaurant manager and cashier were actually quite cold in their interactions with us. The ONLY real downside however, was location, but only in reference to getting to the neighboring state of Guanajuato: you must drive on rough narrow roads for about 45 minutes.
I do not recommend this hotel if you like coffee in your room (the machine didn’t work) or a clean bathroom. There were fairly big hairs on the floor and where you put the soap in the shower, the water stunk, and there were rust stains on the floor. The vibe was absolutely blah all over this hotel. Blah.
