Traveled in March 2025 as a couple for two nights. From the moment we stepped in to the moment we checked out, the staff was always amazingly kind and polite, all of whom knew basic English and some who spoke advanced English. The food was amazingly delicious to the extent that I think I will never be able to eat Miso soup again anywhere else. Both private onsens were superbly comfortable (you cannot enter the public onsens with tattoos) and the outdoor one was especially romantic with a sakura tree in the middle. The view from the main terrace was mesmerizing, the beds were highly comfortable and the location was easy to access. 10/10 can not wait to visit again!

This place was so great! We loved having the option of a private onsen across the bridge, as well as being given a complimentary session in the inside couples onsen. The public onsens were both really nice, with men and women sides being switched, allowing both to be experienced. The dinner and breakfast included were generous, delicious and had an extensive variety. The free drinks in happy hour were very much appreciated, and able to be enjoyed on their terrace that enjoys a great view. The room was nice, and we were fortunate to have a river side one with a great view on the top floor. They were quiet and private, with good facilities. The futons were super comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful from check in, through dinner and set up, right until check out. They could not have been more friendly. The location is great, easily accessed by train, bus or even foot from Hakone-Yumoto station. Staying here was a real highlight of our trip, and surprisingly affordable. We would thoroughly recommend. Thank you for our stay!

Paid $800 for one night for my only experience in a Japanese Hakone Riyokan.... If I was in America or at least been able to reserve another hotel I would have done so. Traveling with two children, total of 4 people in Japan.... Very hard to book accommodations. The place is filthy with carpet stains and half the bulbs burnt out. BUT the real issue was the odors. Our room bathroom smelled like a filthy public urinal which hadn't been cleaned in months. Manager can't to the room and acted like he couldn't smell anything. Then another staff member came up to confirm. The other smells throughout the establishment are that of, dampness, moldy, old, duty laundry, etc. STAY AWAY
