This is a beautiful, peaceful place that lives up to its name. Our room and bathroom are clean and lovely; the common areas are generous and homey. There is a common refrigerator to store our cold foods, and we have full use of the common kitchen as we want/need. We relaxed to sleep with little frogs sounding and woke up to roosters and other little birds. Traffic heavy in the road outside, but with only so many roads up and down on the island, it's expected as folks head to work. So different than Central Virginia right now! It is only 3+ miles down to Kailua. We prefer this serene setting to the hustle and bustle of the town. We'll be back!

Had a beautiful stay with Miriam and Dave. They are lovely hosts and take care of guests like family. The inn is unique, nestled in a lush hillside with lots of beautiful trees and tropical plants surrounding the rooms! You hear the coqui at night and other sounds of the countryside but ear plugs are provided for light sleepers. The common areas are charming, clean, and inviting. We loved drinking coffee on the lanai! Kona coffee and home made goodies, and fresh fruit are provided every morning 🙏Great location to head to beach, hikes, shopping and restaurants (8-10 min drive or so for most things, you'll definitely want a rental car). Great experience for those looking to get off the beaten path and explore a bit more of the countryside 😊! Thank you for a great stay!

I cannot begin to describe how pleasant my experience was staying at Hale Maluhia Country inn. Dave and Miriam are two of the kindest, most faithful, and most welcoming hosts I have come across in my years of traveling. Aside from the property being beautiful, Dave and Miriam ensured my stay was comfortable and pleasant. Coffee was available every morning, the room I stayed in was adorable and clean, and Miriam had treats, fruit, and tea available for guests. The communal kitchen made it fun to talk to other guests and make some meals if you didn’t feel like ordering out. I will highly recommend staying here to anyone who wishes to visit Kona.
