Hampton by Hilton Zhangjiajie Tianmen Mountain

Really great hotel in a fantastic location! AC was decent - had a hard time getting the room below 23°C / 74°F, however. Staff was nice enough to offer a fan to keep cool on warmer nights. The BEST part of this hotel is the free laundry. You can bring as much as you need to the 3rd floor, put it all in the machine, and put a sticky note with your room number on the washing machine. Then, head out on your adventures, and like magic when you come back it will all be in a bag perfectly dried and folded. I stay 50+ nights per year in hotels (mainly Marriott and Hilton properties), and have NEVER seen anything like this. After nearly 3 weeks traveling, it was so appreciated to be able to wash all my clothes without paying $4 for a single pair of socks. Rooms are comfortable and well equipped (albeit a bit small), staff is friendly, and there are plenty of stores/restaurants within walking distance. Overall a great property at a great price, would definitely stay again! :) Make sure to book your cable car tickets in advance - Lines A and B can sell out leaving you with a much longer journey up/down Tianmen.

A wonderful stay at this hotel which has the perfect location beside where you begin your journey to Tianmen by bus / cable car. The room is clean and what you would expect from the Hilton group. The highlight for me was the warmth and kindness of the hotel staff, from the reception team who helped me when my phone died and cable broke and then ordered me a taxi to an electronics shop, to the management and breakfast team who made me feel so welcome with a tour of the breakfast options and a small good luck gift. Staff take huge pride in their jobs and it shows in the service they deliver. Thank you!

Rooms are excellent, spacious, with comfortable bathrooms. Although a bit more privacy would be welcome. Breakfast is not great, but will (have to) do. What I missed the most was a hotel bar. A place to sit after a long day hiking through the mountains (amazing!), with a cold beer or a nice wine. Location is quite good, many restaurants around the hotel, within few minutes walk. Cable Car up to Tianmenshan opposite the hotel.
