I stayed at Huazhu Hotel for 2 nights during a short trip to Saigon. Yes, the lobby area is still under renovation, so it doesn't look very polished right now, but once you're in your room, it's a different story — clean, spacious, and surprisingly quiet. The staff made up for the renovation by offering a free late check-out and 20% discount at their rooftop bar. I had a great sunset drink there! For the price and central location in District 1, I think it’s still a solid choice.
The hotel is currently undergoing renovations, but overall everything is fine. It takes about 30 minutes to walk to the city center. Breakfasts are quite decent, and the windows offer a beautiful view. However, there are significant drawbacks in the bathroom. The transparent glass doors to the toilet and shower are not very well designed — although there is a curtain, the partition does not completely isolate these areas from the bedroom. The bottom of the doors does not fit tightly against the walls due to the absence of rubber seals, so water from the shower leaks onto the floor. The foot towel gets wet quickly and needs to be dried before it can even be used properly. Upon arrival, there was only one small bar of soap, and it was never replaced throughout the entire week.
I recently stayed at Huazhu Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, and while there were some positives, my overall experience was disappointing. What I didn’t like: - The restaurant manager frequently complained about his staff in front of guests, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere. - Cash-Only Policy! No option to charge drinks, food, or laundry to the room. Everything must be paid in cash immediately, which is inconvenient. - Noisy Rooms! The hotel is under renovation, with drilling noises from early morning until late at night. Additionally, outside construction goes on 24/7, and even water flushing from upper floors is so loud it feels like it will pour down on you. - The restaurant is overpriced with a poor selection and is uncomfortably windy. I do not recommend it. Instead, the restaurant across the street (MOC) is much better and more affordable. - The alley leading to the hotel is cluttered with construction materials, and you need to watch out for dog mess on the way in. What I liked: - Wi-Fi was decent. - The Breakfast buffet was fine, but repetitive if staying for a week or more. - The small pool was nice, but with only four loungers that are so uncomfortable you can feel the metal bars through them. - Good location with plenty of great restaurants nearby and not far from the busy center. - Helpful staff, though their English proficiency is very poor or nonexistent.
