Very nice hotel with great views over the quay from the terrace, bar and restaurant. We enjoyed a drink on the terrace but the wind moved us inside where we enjoyed fine dinner of king prawns and scallops. I ordered grilled sirloin over a Niçoise salad from the BBQ outside all very nice. Unfortunately the service didn’t match the food in the strange British catch as catch can style when servers have no dedicated section, things get missed and repeated unnecessarily. In this case the server that moved us inside failed to let the other servers know and thus my dinner sat, until I inquired. A small glitch in an otherwise enjoyable evening.
My wife and I went here for afternoon tea. The staff were very friendly. We were shown to our table very quickly. The views from the restaurant that overlook the harbour are stunning. The service was okay. However, there were a few things that I marked the service down on. We had to ask for an additional coffee cup (only one on the table). When the tea and coffee arrived, we had to ask for the sugar. When the afternoon tea arrived, we weren't told what the sandwiches were, so we had to call the waitress back to tell us (we got the impression that she wasn't sure herself !). The quality was good. We had four big scones between the two of us ! There is free parking at the hotel. You have to register your car at reception. So, if it wasn't for the service, I would have scored this experience 5/5. Having said that, I would recommend the afternoon tea experience here.
Overall a nice hotel. Very nice terrace area to sit and eat and drink on a good day. Lovely views. Our room was a bit tired and would have been nice to have had a safe. Very clean, great shower and very comfy bed. Lovely view across the water. Service generally good, friendly staff. Just one older guy at breakfast had an abrupt manner on the two times he served us. He wanted to get our toast for us as he wanted to switch off the toaster. It was 9.45am and breakfast didn't finish until 10am. So we felt a little rushed. Dinner was nice but maybe a slightly updated menu would be worthwhile. Generally though...a decent hotel. Would do a short stay again.
