Harbour View Motel Coromandel

A great place to stay. Rooms are dated but clean and you have all you need. Great view off the balcony. Only negative would be very low water pressure in the shower (made hair washing a challenge).

Great view but this accommodation is very tired & needs updating. Parking is tight, spacious unit with twin beds in separate bedroom & double & single in main living room. Unfortunately toilet wasn't working properly & after explaining this twice over 3 night stay with no improvement & having to drive to town to use public toilet, that was unacceptable. There was alot of cobwebs & spiders.

Stayed 2 nights. Terri was lovely & very accommodating. Came back for another night - a faulty fire alarm went off & I spoke to Terri's employee. They turned alarm off at a box with a key. I had left and about an hour later my friend who was in the room, got a knock at the door. It was 2 employees, (who perhaps thought the room was empty?). They entered the room, looked around at personal belongings and asked my friend to climb on the bed to push a button on the smoke alarm (it's the type of alarm that doesn't have a button) My friend declined to do so and the disgruntled employee said 'well expect the fire department then. It felt as though both employees were there to look through our belongings. Following, that, my friend went to Reception to advise that the light on the alarm was still flashing and asked what should we do? The employee said 'well it's not my fault and the fire depot are coming'. Rather than knock on the door and offer another room so that the fire dept could check the room we were given, the employee was rude, had an accusatory attitude and very unhelpful. My friend felt violated, unsafe and unsettled. I went to Reception and advised that we would like to leave and get a refund. The employee was hesitant to ring Terri as she advised she had already called her 4 times. I said that I would be happy to speak with Terri. The employee called and Terri was more than happy to give a refund. Bottom line: Terri is a great host,, the employees however are dodgy! Beware of motel staff who may go through personal belongings!!
