Hotel Harsha The Fern in Shivamogga offers a mixed experience, depending on your priorities. Location: It’s situated well outside the main city. This works if you’re visiting places like Jog Falls or Keladi, but not ideal if you want quick access to the town center. Rooms & Design: The hotel is modern, clean, and thoughtfully laid out. Rooms are well-furnished and comfortable — no complaints here. There’s also plenty of parking, which is convenient if you’re driving. Service: The front desk seemed to be handled entirely by trainees during our visit. This led to delays and confusion — not what you’d expect from a hotel positioning itself as premium. Food: The dinner buffet was disappointing. Most items lacked freshness and flavor, making the in-house dining experience skippable unless they improve significantly. It is a decent option if you’re exploring areas around Shivamogga and want a quiet stay with good rooms and parking — just don’t expect great service or food.
Room was spacious and bed was comfortable. The problem is with air conditioner. After repetitive complaints (immediately after checkin and in the evening) to reception and their technical staff, nobody took it seriously. I was sweating and couldn't able to sleep that night. Next day I have to forcefully told them to change the room and they did. The breakfast and dinner was good in quality and taste. But you have to be on time. As we reach late for dinner, thebfood was cold and few items were finished. 1 star for room with faulty AC, 4 star to restaurant staff, 0 star to maintenance team for telling lie that AC is repaired and working fine.
