Great ryokan and onsen. The room was much bigger than what I expected and the onsen was very nice. They have some taiko performances at night that you can enjoy for free. You can also play ping pong for free. They also have a welcome drink service that is open all the time. Their breakfast was quite good and had many choices. They also provide a free shuttle bus from Kaga Onsen Station to the hotel and back. It was quite affordable compared to other ryokan in the area, but everything was very nice. 1 night wasn't enough for us, so we considered staying for 2 nights next time.

This is a great place to get away from all the hustle and bustle of big cities. It's not quite a hidden gem, as there are quite a few tourists there (me included!). I booked this place in haste on booking.com and I was under the impression that I had a private onsen as part of the more expensive suite room. Infact, it's just a bath. Not onsen water. Be careful of this if you think that you are booking a room with a private onsen. Some reviews also talk about having a private onsen, but it's the same room I had with a bath. It shouldn't really be labelled as a "private" bath. This implies it's an onsen. Any bath in a room is private... Staff are lovely. Really nice and attentive. The food was amazing. The dinner package with kaiseki is certainly worth it. Parts off the ryokan are well presented and seem recently renovated. Whereas, other areas are very dated, musty smelling, and discoloured. I would return. But I wouldn't pay more for the room with the "private bath" and just pay for the standard room and use the real onsen.

This place was good and had all the amenities but was a little dated and run down. Nothing major but you can tell that it’s getting a little old. The onsen was very nice and the masseuse was extremely friendly and spoke some decent English while also helping me with my Japanese. The breakfast was ok
