Haus am Meer

Loved our stay at Haus am Meer Hotel on Norderney. It's just the perfect place to stay on the island, spectacular sunsets and all the beaches right in front of the door. We got the family room and wow, it was fantastic. Parents room, living room with kitchenette, kids room with bunk beds. Huge wooden deck with a perfect sunset view! Lots of great restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. The breakfasts were good and we also enjoyed the bar and the indoor pool. We had a great time and would love to come back sometime.

Hotel and rooms are very nice, location count not be better, staff is super friendly and the breakfast, while somewhat limited in choices, is very good. But no AC in the room, that has one wall essentially completely made out of windows. Hence it was super hot in the room and stayed hot till late into the night. You can only open one Window, roughly 25% of the glas wall, to let air in, but since the lower half of the windows is a glas railing, only a little more than half the window actually lets fresh air in. Your choices for the night are hence sleeping in a very hot room, or in a fairly loud room since the Milchbar is crowded until late, and people having a good time are naturally loud. Given the definately premium price for the room that signaficantly downgrades the experiance.

The management seem a bit complacent. No air conditioning, no room service, WiFi has low limit for number of devices. Room cleaning not so thorough and not really a facility for doing the washing up. You need to book breakfast and no chance of getting it if you didn't. Noise protection between rooms of suite is poor but otherwise hotel itself is quiet. They have board and childrens games in the bar.
