We stayed here for a couple of days and had the coziest, dreamiest stay! It felt like a true winter escape. The actual room/amenities were wonderful. We did run into two issues, however: 1. The bath water was yellow/brown. 2. We had ants in our kitchen (attached images). We called the reception and they were really helpful. They said that there were works being done, so the bathwater just needed to be run for 15 minutes to clear it out. We tried this, and it did clear it out. Someone from reception came and helped handle the ant situation, however, there were still small traces of ants lingering in our kitchen which made it feel a little unsanitary and did not want to cook using the kitchen then. We understand that being so far out, that issues like this may arise, but advertising as a 5 star luxury hotel, we would have expected a heads up or some sort of prior notice as it did discourage us from using the full amenities properly. If it wasn't for these issues, it would be a clear 5/5.
Hepburn on Hepburn offers a truly delightful escape, nestled in the beautiful surroundings of Hepburn Springs. From the moment we arrived, the scenic beauty of the area was evident, and the property itself blends seamlessly into the tranquil landscape. The gardens are meticulously maintained, providing a serene entrance for a relaxing getaway. What truly elevated our stay were the wonderful staff. Every interaction, from check-in to asking for local recommendations, was met with genuine warmth and efficiency. Their attentive and friendly service made us feel incredibly welcome and well-cared for, which is a significant plus in any accommodation experience. Our experience was nearly perfect, with just a couple of minor points that kept it from being a five-star review. While comfortable, the room felt like it was starting to become slightly outdated. The TV could use an update, which was noticeable when trying to unwind in the evenings. Additionally, the spa had some slight damage and when ran had a bit of dirt come out of the jets. We also spotted cobwebs around the room and above the bed, suggesting a need for a more thorough clean in those less accessible areas. Despite these small imperfections, Hepburn on Hepburn remains a strong four-star choice. The stunning location and exceptional staff create a memorable and highly enjoyable stay. With a little refresh to the rooms, this charming retreat could easily achieve a perfect rating.
3.5 stars. Beautiful rooms. The bed was extremely comfortable (more pillow options would be better). The lounge area is very cozy, I loved the fireplace. A great location for a cold winter's stay. Loved the use of curtains throughout the room. Kitchen facilities are limited, one pot and pan provided, no oven. Hard to cook a proper meal in. A bbq on the balcony would be a fantastic addition. The popcorn was a nice addition, wasn't enough coffee or tea for more than two days. Upon booking it says for stays of four days or more that you'd have room service, but we stayed four nights and no one came to change towels or top up coffee etc. The lack of sound proofing the bathroom is a very bizarre choice. The door doesn't shut fully and the door handle is a hole, so no way to fully close off the bathroom. The spa bath is nice but excessively big, uses so much water and takes a very long time to fill up. If ever renovating, a smaller spa/bath would be far more economical! I would have given it four stars if the price was different. $50-80 cheaper a night would be more suitable. It's quite expensive for what is provided, particularly compared to other villa-like stays in regional Victoria.
