What an incredible pocket of the world. So much extraordinary marine life within minutes of your doorstep. Heron Island is home to a leading research station with renowned scientists studying the precious underwater world. We thoroughly enjoyed meals at the restaurant with the gnocchi a particular favourite. We will be back!
We stayed in a beautiful beachfront room, which had been recently renovated. It was air-conditioned and comfortable, overlooking the magic of the reef. There is no island like Heron Island for marine life. An out of this world experience, whereby you don't even need to snorkel to see rays, turtles, sharks, you can wander the jetty or shoreline or hop aboard their semi submersible. That said, highly recommend snorkeling and diving to see the best of the best! Will be back :)
We loved our 4 night stay here. The island is beautiful and the nature was incredible. The food was fantastic and had good options for meat eaters and vegetarians. The turtle rooms are basic, could do with a revamp but it did the job. Would recommend for a peaceful, relaxing holiday!!
