Herriots Hotel

So we used the conference room and the conservatory for a church service. The conference room was warm as it was a sunny day and there were about 100 people in there. The setting was nice. There were enough emergency exits available in case of an emergency. The conservatory had enough seating for our children's service. There was on-site parking as well

This hotel is okay. The girl who greeted us at the reception was very friendly and welcoming, other staff were fairly serious, but did their jobs. Our room was quite dull and dingy, and had some weird design choices. Like, the bedside plug sockets were behind the headboards making them difficult or impossible to access. The sliding door to the bathroom, which makes two more wall sockets unusable, offers very little privacy to anyone using the bathroom as there is a large gap between the door and the door frame. I didn't have a cooked breakfast, but their continental breakfast was nice, I thought. The Internet was decent and there was a large TV in the room. I didn't find my pillow to be comfortable, but I have that issue in a lot of places. There is a massive Morrisons opposite which is useful, and the little town centre is only a few minutes walk away. As I said, this hotel is okay. If you're just passing through, or on business, you'll probably be happy enough here. But, if you're looking for something a bit cosy, romantic, interesting, or stylish, maybe look elsewhere.

My Husband and I went for a short break for our 30th Wedding Anniversary, not really what we were expecting. We thought we had a good deal but was out of pocket as we had to eat out for all meals. First night’s meal was not great and our first breakfast was just awful. The hotel could do with updating in certain places. Our room was superior facing over the canal but it was so hot we could hardly sleep having to open the doors to get some air as the fan was not acceptable. Some staff were really nice while others just should not be in hospitality. Although the hotel was definitely not the best we made the most of it and had an amazing break away. It’s a shame I felt I had to leave a negative review but we were so looking forward to our break away, this could be rectified by a couple of little fixes.
